- There was an interesting article in the Financial Post of Aug. 21 by
Pierre Lemieux, titled: "Why everybody things alike".
His article is about a phenomenon called: "informational cascades". In
part he explains "why the regulations of risky products or environmental
risks is often driven by public opinion movements that run counter to
scientific evidence. Think Kyoto."
Further, he states: "Cascades are efficient when they facilitate the
diffusion of correct information at low cost. They are inefficient when
they feed on false information."
He has a web site: <www.pierrelemieux.org>.
