Does anyone know if the notes from the meeting on copyright are being made available anywhere online? Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the meeting.

As well as all the aspects of copyright, I’d be really interested in how much if any of a newspaper clipping are you allowed to include even if the book is only going to be available just for the family.

Subject: Martin Kratz, Lawyer, to Speak at February Meeting regarding Copyright

The Program Committee is thrilled to announce that Martin Kratz of Bennett Jones Law Firm has agreed to speak for the Main Session at the February meeting.

Lois Sparling writes: This promises to be THE state-of-the-art and most advanced presentation on Canadian copyright law as it applies to family history ever. Mr. Kratz is in charge of the Intellectual Property division of a big law firm and an experienced lecturer (to lawyers and law students).

His profile is available at http://www.bennettjones.ca/Profiles/6351.htm

Mark your calendars and bring your questions regarding copyright. Guests are welcome to attend.

The February meeting will be held on Monday, February 5 at First Christian Reformed Church (3818 14A St SW). (Unlike previous years, the February meeting will not be held on Saturday afternoon. The church is unavailable.) Jim Bowman of the Glenbow Archives will speak about the holdings of the Glenbow from 6:30 to 7:00 pm. Our general meeting is at 7:00 pm followed by a break for visiting and refreshments. Mr. Kratz will speak from 8:00 to 9:00 pm.
