Subject: KILL THE LIVE ANIMAL EXPORT TRADE
People Against Cruelty in Animal Transport Inc (PACAT) was formed in the mid 90s by a small group of people living near the port of Fremantle, Western Australia. Being close to the port which conducted 90% of Australias live animal export trade they had experienced first hand the suffering endured by thousands of animals being transported unceremoniously in fully laden, sometimes 3 and 4-tiered, trucks to the port. Since many of the livestock vessels are able to accommodate 140,000 animals they witnessed a constant ferrying of trucks, often showing animals lying down unable to rise, of limbs hanging out through slats, of limp heads hanging over the sides. All scenes distressing to people with compassion for animals.
