      Dear People,

I've been surmizing lately.  I've been wondering, and thinking about the Genome Project.  And you know, I've come to the conclusion that it hasn't got a hope in hell of working- at least in so far as eliminating people with disability goes.  I think all the money government is putting into it is a waste - resources that could be far better spent by us...  On encouraging organic farming, for onee thing...

This is all because of an essay I did on Intersexuality (Hermaphradotism) last year for the Communuity Health module of my Diploma. Read following insert that I wrote in about August last year:

I don't teach in this area; I'm a Community Development student - I completed the essay for the Community Health component of my course.  I have an B. A. in Social Sciences too, however.

I thought this and the related attachments might be useful...

      ....  How about Cerebral Palsy??

Do you know the stats are getting WORSE for some of these conditions.  Most of them are not diseases in my opinion, for what it's worth.  I think of diseases as being "catching", as having a set period, as having an ending - either you're cured or you die!

Want to know the reason why things are getting worse?  Just read the last part of the essay I am sending you.  I would like to know what you think of it...

I GOT INTERESTED IN THE TOPIC OF THE ESSAY WHEN I SAW A TV. PROGRAM ABOUT INTERSEXUALITY AND THERE WAS A THROW-AWAY LINE IN IT ABOUT CHEMICALS EFFECTING GENETICS.  I PRICKED UP MY EARS AT ONCE, HAVING A LONGTIME INTEREST IN THE ORGANIC GROWERS MOVEMENT.

MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE A ORGANIC GARDEN WHERE WE TRY TO PLANT ONLY HERITAGE SEEDS...

So then I e-mailed the Intersex Support Groups around the world  - but none of the scientists they had contact with had any knowledge about what I was asking for.

So then I asked the listings concerned with disabilities that I am in contact with the same questions.  Two people, Hank the "Hyena" and Laurence Bathhurst, got back to me and suggested  I search for the words "Social Ecology".  From there I got onto the "World Wildlife Fund, Canada", which took me to the "Natural Resources Defence Council" in the USA, which in turn led me to the endocrinologists Vom Saal and Krimsky.

I felt like a dectective and thoroughly enjoyed the chase!  Took about 4 weeks of concentrated hard slog though...

I found what  Fredrick VoM Saal, Sheldon Krimsky, and their (numerous!) colleagues are saying so FASCINATING I thought I'll post the  findings on the Internet for anyone who's interested...  Especially the first couple of pages of the "Handouts" are worth a look - they may make you want to read the whole.

As I said before - they have published some ground-breaking work as recently as last year.  Apparently it has caused quite a furore in the food and agricultural industries, which has tried - not surprisingly - to debunk them...

What these guys are saying, I gather, is that researchers up to now have been looking at large concentrations of chemicals - whereas it is the tiny amounts (IN CONJUNCTION WITH other tiny amounts of other chemicals, perhaps) that cause a tremendous amount of genetic "mayhem", ESPECIALLY WITH BABIES & CHILDREN.  It makes for intriguing, and at times, S-C-A-R-Y reading.

Please, if you want to persuade people to vote for minor political parties like the Greens, Socialists or Independants (or vote at all !), pass my attachment on.  It may be important, at least in the NEXT election...

By the way, I've scanned the file for viruses.  There were none, in-so-far as my up-to-date Norton's virus checker could tell..."

In other words, I discovered that, apparently, modern household and darm/garden chemicals act as Endocrine (ie. Glandular and most glands produce hormones) Disrupters" and thus have a direct impact on genes, causing them to mutate quite regularly...)

(I was always under the impression that genes were pretty stable; the Genome Project people appear to be too.  Otherwise why would they be looking so hard for the "rogue" genes in our ancestors?)

What is really frightening is that these effects  only show up when the chemicals are tested in the minutest quantities.  These tests are only now in the last five years being recognised - and duplicated - by the scientific community.

In the meantime, a condition like autism has shot up 1300% !!! in the last 25 years.  More people are being disabled by cerebral Palsy, Ms, I.D., etc. etc.

Jai Guru Dev (this means I'm acknowledging the spiritual "spark" in you!),

"Sundari - pronounced Soon(like lun in 'lunatic!')-DHE-ree" [my e-mail name - I would like you to use it please].

P.S.  I am not sure if you will receive this message, since I know by personal experience that e-mail is not as reliable as snail mail.  So if you would confirm this, I would be most grateful. Just "Thanks" in the subject line would do until you get the time to answer more fully if you feel it is necessary/wish to...

P.P.S.  Could somebody please send this to Dr. Christopher Newell, the bio-ethicist in ... Tassie, I think.  I would like to see what he has to say about this, and my attachments
