      Overcoming Racism - A Radical Approach

      Is racial conflict inevitable in a multi-racial society?
      Or is it the product of social and economic conditions
      – past and present – that can be understood and changed?

      This two-part class will utilize works by writers of color,
      feminists and radicals to explore these questions and
      the vanguard role of people of color in social justice
      movements, including the challenges and rewards of
      organizing across color lines.


      Authors whose works will be used in the class include those pictured above, from top:
      Oliver C. Cox - Caste, Class and Race; Christina López -Estamos en la Lucha:
      Immigrant Women Light the Fires of Resistance; W.E.B. DuBois - Black Reconstruction
      in America, 1860-1880; Merle Woo - Stonewall Was a Riot­–Now We Need a Revolution,
      and Yellow Woman Speaks

      Section II: June 23 – July 14
      Bridging the Race Divide

      Fees: $20 for the entire series or $3.00 per session.
      Readings and class materials included in cost.Readings for the first class can be found here.

      Classes will begin at 1 pm.
