Many couples would be disappointed if their wedding day coincided with bad weather, but some have used the dramatic scenery as a stunning backdrop for photos.
In a series of images compiled by the Huffington Post, rain, snow, thunderstorms and clouds provide the background for newlyweds' striking wedding images.
Whether they're ducking under umbrellas or fully embracing the elements, the bad weather doesn't stop these couples from showing how happy they are to embark on the rest of their lives together.

In one of the photos, which was taken by Astoria, Oregon-based photographer Justin Grafton, a groom and his bride stand kissing in the rain under a green and white umbrella.
Rather than ruining the photo, the rain dropping around them merely heightens the romanticism of it, adding a shiny gleam to their surroundings.

Another newly married couple endure a blizzard in their loved-up wedding photo.
The image of Claire and Chris - photographed by Crystal Heis from Lexington, Kentucky - shows them huddled up together while snow blows all around them, making for a rather enchanting shot.

Below the photo on her website, the photographer wrote: 'When everything is right, magic happens.'
And Warren, Michigan native Sandy, who goes by The Camera Chick, captured a similar shot of newlyweds braving the snow for a romantic kiss.
A brewing thunderstorm provides the stunning background for another one of Justin Grafton's wedding photos.
In it, a man grins as he dips his bride backwards, her veil floating behind her.
While much of the photo is a somber grey, shadowed by the dark clouds overhead, the bride's bright yellow sunflowers in her hand provide a stark contrast, as does the stormy yellow tint of the horizon.

San Francisco native Michele Beckwith's photo of newlyweds kissing at night time is equally magical.
Lit by a spotlight and protected under their umbrella, the husband and wife share a kiss in the dark outdoors as snowflakes fall around them, giving the illusion of stars.
In another one of the photos, which was taken by Arizona-based Trevor Dayley, a wedding party made use of a rain storm by posing in the reflection made by a puddle on the ground.
The lower halves of their bodies are visible upside-down in the bottom of the shot, and their faces are reflected in the pool of water at the top.

Rain also features in Poison Apple Studios' photo of a Brisbane, Australia-based couple embracing beneath an umbrella, and Phillip Austin's shot of two newlyweds holding each other lovingly as they walk in the rain.
And Boston photographer Zach Dries captured a stunning shot of a husband and wife holding hands in their dress and tuxedo, standing among rose petals and protected from the rain under a black umbrella.
