I have posted a couple of pics to try and show the collection site at Kingfisher Pond.
After spending more time today with this sample I'm beginning to believe
that it could produce the widest range of diatom species that I have
experienced for any freshwater pond in New England!
So if any member would like to join in and take a look - just let me know and I'll mail out a vial of this raw (uncleaned) material.
I found another P. formica specimen and also another unusual form - see the posted pic labeled #2.
I have no idea of an ID for this one - so all suggestions will be most welcome...
