Group Description

Kids Off The Block (KOB), a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization was
established in September 2003. Our mission and commitment is to reach
out to those who have been labeled "at-risk" youth, engaging and interacting with them through positive programs and activities. Our vision is to engage the youth in after school programs, weekend retreats, and family/community-oriented events thus eliminating the influence of involvment with gangs, drugs, truancy, violence, alcohol, and juvenile justice system occurrences.

We offer youth Tutoring/Mentoring, Music, Drama, Sports, Community Service, and through partnership with National Block Club University (NBCU), Local/Out of Town Travel.

KOB has a Community Basketball League consisting of 4 teams (2 Jr. Varsity & 2 Varsity). Boys & girls ages 12 to 19 years old participate in our year round tournaments.
Our Music Department has newly donated equipment that allows youth to create their own music, burn it and then distribute it to family and friends.
The Drama Program creates an avenue for teens who want to showcase their talents through acting. Youth are coached and given an opportunity to write, produce, direct or act in their own plays.
Community Service is called "KOB Village Leaders Program". A village is a 12 to 20 block area in which youth engage the residents on issues that affect their blocks. Then offer solutions or referrals.
KOB has been to 14 cities so far to literally "get youth off the block".
Our Tutoring/Mentoring Program offers youth homework assistance, GED preparation, tests support, and computer literacy classes. Mentors consists of businesses, corporations, politicians, etc.

There are six departments within our organization: Youth, Public
Safety, Senior Citizens, Health and Wellness, Educational, and
Economics (Entrepreneurship). Each play a vital role in providing a
wide spectrum of opportunities and awareness for the youth, families,
and the community.
