      ALLIANCE GLOBAL CHALLENGE PLAN MANAGER - AFGHANISTAN
      Guide and support the implementation of Afghanistan's Global
      Challenge (GC) Country Plan using a rights-based approach in all
      programming and policy advocacy work.

      Meet with Alliance country/program directors at least monthly to
      apprise them of specific GC activity/initiatives progress, to seek
      their advice/counsel and to discuss pertinent budgetary matters,
      particularly with regard to funding for jointly-implemented GC
      activities/initiatives such as advocacy with the Ministry of
      Education and collaboration/work with other organizations.

      Be the key communicator and representative of the Afghanistan GCWG
      to the Alliance Secretariat (London) and to Afghanistan's Ministry
      of Education and other relevant ministries.

      Support Alliance members' project staff to ensure effective
      development and management of individual GC initiatives, with
      special focus on programming to enhance child participation as well
      as child protection Lead GCWG efforts to communicate with other
      organizations (government, UN agencies, NGOs) to build strong and
      effective information exchange networks for child protection and
      safe, child-friendly education.

      Required Skills:

      Advanced degree in education and/or international development or
      equivalent. At least four years management experience working with
      government, UN/NGOs and donors.

      At least two years experience in education and child participation
      programming, with a strong technical understanding of current good
      practice.

      Experience in cross-cultural child rights and/or protection
      programming Experience of working through systems of community
      participation. Strong representational and cross-cultural
      communication skills. Strong report and proposal writing skills
      (English). Familiarity with Dari and/or Pashto desirable but not
      required

      SENIOR PROGRAM MANAGER - AFGHANISTAN

      DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:

      The USAID-funded Afghanistan Basic Education Project (ABEP) is a
      five year, multi-partner project with the following objectives: [1]
      improve primary school teaching and [2]strengthen teacher training
      and support functions of central and provincial offices

      KEY POSITION FUNCTIONS:

      Provide oversight, timely delivery and quality assurance of Save the
      Children's activities under ABEP Lead planning for effective
      implementation of Save the Children's activities under ABEP Ensure
      timely and appropriate reporting on ABEP activity to Save the
      Children and the ABEP lead agency Ensure appropriate monitoring and
      evaluation of Save the Children's work in ABEP and collaborate
      closely with the ABEP monitoring and evaluation partner Monitor Save
      the Children's budget under ABEP and support Save the Children's
      Finance team with Financial reporting.

      SKILLS REQUIRED:

      Advanced degree in education, development, or related field Minimum
      5 years experience at a senior level in multi-partner education
      development programs Experience implementing USAID funded projects
      and managing large field programs with multiple activities and
      partners Demonstrated skills in strategic planning, management, and
      budgeting Experience in teacher education and an understanding of
      local government functions Fluency in English; proficiency in Dari
      and/or Pashto languages desirable.

      TECHNICAL ADVISOR PRIMARY HEALTH CARE - BANDE ACEH, INDONESIA

      The Health Sector has 3 main programs (Training, Health
      Promotion/Behaviour Change, and Health Management Systems). These
      programs are intended to improve the coverage and quality of health
      services for women and children in Aceh.

      The Technical Advisor will work with the program managers, and
      particularly with district health department staff (and Save
      colleagues in the districts) to ensure that the program 'inputs'
      actually result in changes in service quality in village midwife
      clinics and rural health centres. Thus the role of the Technical
      Advisor is to 'bring together' various interventions at the service
      end. The Advisor will need to have a good understanding of health
      service delivery, particularly in the Indonesian context.

      Required Skills:

      Qualifications in midwifery and or nursing; at least 5 years
      experience working in the health sector in developing countries,
      preferably including Indonesia; experience in implementation of
      Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), Child Survival
      and Making Pregnancy Safer interventions; experience in capacity
      building for delivery of community health services; familiarity with
      Indonesian health service delivery structures and processes; minimum
      of basic Indonesian language skills.
