SIZE REALLY DOESN'T MATTER. In the new DVD film, Big Ain't Bad, viewers are able to come to the conclusion that size really doesn't matter. This romantic comedy follows the relationship of “Ric” (Sean Blakemore) and “Natalie” (Jade Jenise Dixon), as they head towards marriage after just a short but intense romance. Everything seems perfect until Ric's beautiful intellect returns home early from a business trip and catches him cooking breakfast for his one-night-stand the next morning. Natalie is forced to call the wedding off, giving the two the opportunity to re-discover themselves before moving on, or possibly getting back together. Natalie's two very overprotective brothers, "Butch" (Reginal Ballard) and "Dino" (Troy Medley), decide to take matters into their own hands, which leads to romantic twists and comedic turns, as the couple learn important lessons about love and forgiveness. Director Ray Culpepper (Naked Truth, 2003), displays to the audience how we should value the
elements behind love and trust. Based in Atlanta, Big Ain't Bad features a cameo of the A-Town rapper Lil Jon, and also stars Tico Wells of The Five Heartbeats fame as "Kirkland J Ellis III." Kirk plays devil's advocate as the perfect rich and charming man for Natalie, offering her the world as his beautiful bride.

Q-TIP ENLIGHTENS KANYE WEST. Kanye West, the 28-year-old Grammy winner recently named to Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in recently told Teen People: “I want my songs to touch people, to give them what they need. Every time I make an album, I'm trying to make a cure for cancer, musically. That stresses me out!" "Diamonds From Sierra Leone," is the first single from Late Registration, Kanye's sophomore effort set for release on August 16th. The track features Shirley Bassey's classic "Diamonds Are Forever." Hype Williams directed the video for "Diamonds." Like "Jesus Walks," with it's imagery of abusive prison chain gangs and Klansmen burning crosses, "Diamonds" finds Kanye tackling difficult subject matter. Shot over a three-day period in Prague, the haunting black-and-white clip juxtaposes the iconic old-world glamour of a DeBeers diamond commercial with the brutal "blood-diamond" trade of Sierra Leone, which has claimed the lives of millions of
Africans. "When I first played the song for Q-Tip, he brought up the blood-diamonds. He started informing me," explains Kanye. "The very first thing I did was change the title of the song. From that point on, I wanted to do whatever I could to learn more and educate people about the problem. We came with the concept for the video and, of course, I couldn't wait for the opportunity to rap on the subject." On the new "Diamonds" remix featuring Jay-Z, Kanye talks about more than the diamond that represents the Roc-A-Fella label and the ones he wears on his wrist.

      ON THIS DAY…

In 1956…John Lennon first met Paul McCartney at a church dinner in Liverpool. He invited McCartney to join his group The Quarrymen.

In 1965…Bob Dylan began sessions for his album Highway 61 Revisited.

In 1967…Guitarist Peter Green left John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers. He went on to form Fleetwood Mac.

In 1978…Bob Dylan released Street Legal. He also performed his first European gig since 1966 at Earl’s Court in London.

In 1987…Storm Thorgerson photographed the cover of Pink Floyd’s A Momentary Lapse of Reason in Saunton Sands, England. He had thirty helpers move 800 rented beds onto the beach to shoot the album cover.

In 1992…Bruce Springsteen began his first world tour without the E Street Band in Stockholm, Sweden.

In 1996…Jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald died in Beverly Hills, California. She was 78.

In 2004…Country singer Glen Campbell ("Rhinestone Cowboy") was sentenced to 10 days in jail for extreme drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

In 2004…The Beastie Boys released their sixth album, To the 5 Boroughs, which featured the hit "Ch-Check It Out."

JAY-Z’S APPEARANCES AND PLEDGE TO BLEEK. Jay-Z, in addition to recording tracks on Foxy Brown’s new album, also appears in budding Roc-A-Fella star Teairra Mari's new video "Make Her Feel Good," hops on toward the end of the remix for Kanye West’s new single “Diamonds.” The “Jigga-Man” talks about an entirely different conflict other than diamonds though. He addresses his “ongoing feud” with former partner Dame Dash, who, in the June issue of XXL, said that Jay took the Roc-A-Fella name and essentially forced Dame out of the business they built together. On the track, Jay says: "The chain remains, the gang is intact/ The name is mine, I'll take blame for that," Jay raps. "The pressure's on, but guess who ain't gon' crack/ Pardon me, I had to laugh at that/ How could you falter when you're the rock of Gibraltar?/ I had to get off the boat so I could walk on water," he continues. Jay also pledges allegiance to his longtime cohort Memphis Bleek, whose albums, including the recent
534, have never sold well. "Bleek could be one hit away his whole career/ As long as I'm alive, he's a millionaire/ And even if I die, he's in my will somewhere/ So he could just kick back and chill somewhere ... People lined up to see the Titanic sinking/ Instead, we rose from the ashes like a phoenix." Jay’s full length version of his track “Dear Summer” is featured on Bleek’s latest CD 534.

KWAME’S "ON FIRE." Kwame will receive a Rhythm and Soul Award at this years ASCAP Awards for his contributions to Lloyd Bank's smash single "On Fire". Kwame not only produced, but assisted in writing the song, but says he doesn’t always get credit for his work on the track which peaked at number 1 on the Billboard's Singles Chart. “After all the business was taken care of, I sent the song out there and then I got a call saying would you mind it being mixed by Eminem and Dre? I'm a fan of their work so I would definitely like for that to happen. And then the record came out and everybody said Eminem produced the record. But that was cool, because Banks and them had publicly said, 'Yeah Kwame gave us the record.' But at first it was like, ‘Ok I been around the block for a minute now and I can't allow for outside credit, you know let credit be where credit (is)." Currently, the producer is in the studio with Missy Elliott, Janet Jackson and Pussy Cat Dolls. He will soon appear
alongside video director Dave Meyers in the new Mecca Clothing campaign hitting stores this fall. He can also be seen in the upcoming issue of Billboard, which hits newsstands this Friday. (Actualities #1 - #3)

BOOST MOBILE GETS A BOOST FROM FAT JOE. This Sunday, Boost Mobile will shoot a new commercial featuring Fat Joe in New York. Chris Robinson will direct the spot that will accompany their new print ad campaign Pivotal Moments. The commercial flashbacks to the 80’s when Fat Joe had not yet been discovered, performing for a hometown crowd. SO WHO GETS JA RULE? The fight over who should benefit from discovering Ja Rule continues. In the latest twist, a U.S. appellate court has reversed a federal judge's ruling that ordered the Island Def Jam Group and former chairman Lyor Cohen to pay independent label TVT Records a record 53-million dollars in damages for backing out of a deal to let TVT release a record by Rule's early group, the Cash Money Click. The judge reduced the damages to $126,000. The U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan found there was insufficient evidence to support TVT's claims that Def Jam and Cohen were liable for blocking the release of the Rule album, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. The ruling negated one of the biggest damage awards in music-business history, which was originally pegged at 132-million dollars, but reduced in late 2003 to 53-million. At the time, even with the damage award halved, TVT attorney Peter Haviland predicted that the verdict looked "pretty
bulletproof on appeal." Though the massive judgment was struck down, TVT will receive $126,720 in compensatory damages on a breach-of-contract claim that Def Jam did not appeal. The reversal was also a weight off Cohen's shoulders, as he would have been personally liable for 3-million of the 53 million dollar judgment. Haviland released a statement on Tuesday saying that TVT will appeal the reduced damages judgment.

      (CIARA’S DOUBLE PLATINUM)

After 36 weeks and still going, crunk queen Ciara’s debut album, Goodies, has gone double platinum and then some. And Ciara herself was already pretty knocked when the record went gold, way back when. (News Actuality #4) “When it went gold, whoa. It went gold fast and I was like, ‘Oh My Goodness’ because knowing that I went gold as fast as I did, made me say, ‘Wow that’s five-hundred thousand people that went out and bought my album.’ That’s incredible. That’s amazing. It’s a moment that I can’t forget.” Ciara’s Goodies album is ranked at number 19 on this week’s Billboard chart, but will be dropping to number-29 on Monday.

      (50’S NEW VENTURES)

Busy-guy 50 Cent has already gone from selling multi-millions of albums to starring in a movie – but he says he still finds time to scout out talent for his G-Unit empire. (News Actuality #5) “I got two new things I am looking at, but the ink ain’t dry so I ain’t gonna say nothing about it until later. I am ready to expand. I am ready to do other things. Creatively there are certain artists out there that I have been listening to their music for a long time and I want to work with them and put my full effort into it, but I can’t really work with them unless it is in both of our best interests and that is with them actually signed to G-Unit as a record company.” Actually, we can tell you that the two acts 50 is referring to are Mobb Deep and M.O.P.

      (PEAS GO ON TOUR)

The Black Eyed Peas will be debuting at number two on Monday’s new Billboard chart with their new album, Monkey Business. So when will fans get to see them on tour? Will-I-Am advises no breath-holding. (News Actuality #6) “Well, we’re doing little spot dates. The tour got condensed because we’re going to go on the road with Gwen (Stefani) in October. So, you know, we cut a lot of dates off. Fergie’s doing a movie. Taboo’s doing some stuff. So, we had schedule conflicts but we going to be out on the road in October with Gwen (Stefani).” The Black Eyed Peas will be setting out on their down-sized tour on July 1st in Clarkson, Missouri.

SPIELBERG: THE WORLD IS READY FOR WAR OF THE WORLDS. Steven Spielberg’s latest film, War of the Worlds, had its world premiere in Japan. This marks the Oscar-winning director’s third film involving aliens, the other two being Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T the Extraterrestrial. The nature of the alien changes, however, in War of the Worlds: they want to destroy humanity. And Spielberg told the Associated Press that it makes sense in today’s world. He said, “It seemed like the time was right for me as a filmmaker to let the audience experience an alien that is a little less pleasant than ‘E.T.’… Today, in the shadow of 9/11, I think the film has found a place in society.”

BRAD PITT AND ANGELINA JOLIE TALK FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s new film Mr. & Mrs. Smith raked in over 50 million dollars last weekend. The two have been the darlings of the press and gossip magazines of late, and at a recent press conference to promote the film, Pitt and Jolie both spoke on the importance and double edged sword that is our freedom of speech. [Brad] “I believe it is everything. I believe freedom of speech to be everything and everyone should have it. I’m sure Angie can speak much more on it. [Angelina] “I believe freedom of speech is important but I think we also can be very sloppy with it, like in our press sometimes or how we misinterpret things. I think maybe sometimes there’s so much, that we actually don’t even really hear each other and hear the important things and you know, it becomes just excitable news and the idea of what freedom of speech is, is misused and turned into something that’s shocking and shallow and not really what
it is meant to be.” Mr. & Mrs. Smith was directed by Doug Liman (Swingers and The Bourne Identity). It also stars Vince Vaughn and Adam Brody. (Actuality #7)

BRITNEY TO DEBUT VIDEO ON REALITY SHOW. The Associated Press reports Britney Spears will debut the video to her new single, “Someday (I Will Understand)”, on the final episode of her reality show. UPN will no doubt be hoping that the premiere of the video will give the show a much-needed ratings boost, after it finished in 92nd place with a season low 2.5-million viewers last week. The finale of Britney and Kevin: Chaotic airs tonight.

“WINNIE COOPER” AIN’T JUST LOOKS. Remember “Winnie Cooper?” Of course you do. She was Fred Savage’s childhood sweetheart in The Wonder Years. And like most actors, she actually has a name. In this case, it’s Danica McKellar. So, what ever happened to Danica? Well, she went to school and made her mark on the world of academia. “I actually got to prove a math theorem. I co-authored a math theorem and we got published. So, I have a theorem that’s been published in the Journal of Physics and I got to be a professional mathematician. We were working under a stipend, we were being paid and so, I was actually a professional mathematician.” But Danica isn’t all brains. She’s gone from girl next door to HOT girl next door. Check out her current spread in the July issue of Stuff magazine. (Actuality #8)

CLIVE OWEN WILL SHOOT ‘EM UP. The most advanced weapon Clive Owen got to wield playing “King Arthur” last summer was a sword, but it looks like that’s all about to change. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Closer star will pack some heat in Shoot ‘Em Up. The plot centers on a man who delivers a woman’s child during a gunfight. The character, only known as “Mr. Smith,” must protect the child from a vast array of gunmen. Owen’s next film is Derailed with Jennifer Aniston and he is set to begin shooting Spike Lee’s Inside Man with Denzel Washington later this month.

ANGELINA SAYING GOODBYE TO ACTING? According to the Fashion Monitor Toronto, Angelina Jolie isn’t all that enamored with acting anymore. Apparently, filming on Mr. and Mrs. Smith wore her out. She said, "There's so much drama that comes with films – bickering with studios, directors fighting for their script.
