Group Description

Welcome to the group for all of those interested in English Electric's ultimate locomotive, the Deltics. After the prototype appeared in 1955, 22 were built for British Rail in 1961, and they reigned on the East Coast Main Line for the next 20 years.
Six survived into preservation and after a gap of 15 years, they re-appeared where they belong on the mainline in 1997. In preservation, the Deltics have belonged to three main owners: the Deltic Preservation society (55009,55015, 55019), D9000 Group (DNLL) (55016,55022) and the National Railway Museum (55002). DNLL went into liquidation in July 2004; 55016 has been bought by a private buyer and D9000(55022) has been bought by Martin Walker. 55002 is now back at the NRM. There has been a mainline return in 2005, and this is an excellent place to get the latest gen on what is happening in the Deltic world.

This group is to discuss anything to do with Deltics: Historical facts, current news, model Deltics, views on their future usage etc. There is a monthly photo competition naturally with Deltics as the subject in the hope of un-earthing new or un-discovered archive pictures of the great locos in action.
What it is defintely not about, and what ruined the previous group, is personal abuse and petty bickering. I will be absolutely strict about this: any abuser will be immediately banned. If persistant abuse continues, I will moderate all new users postings until they have shown they are not a banned user in disguise.
With the healthcheck out of the way, welcome on Board, please email me with any requests, ideas etc you would like to see incorporated into the group's future.
Cheers
Duncan
