Star Party - electrical power on the field
- I was too hasty in deleting the message from Doug Towner about the electrical power at Tuckahoe.Doug was referring to the power outlets around the "RV Loop" and I thank him for his expertise in helping us make sure they are functioning properly…there are a few of the outlets and they are available on a first come first serve basis. But…I want to restate our policy about 110vac power on the main observing field…We do not allow 110vac power cords strung onto the large observing field for several reasons…the main two are the safety of our guests and the possible liability to the Club for injuries resulting from 1000's of feet of Walmart power cords running the 1/2 mile length of a wet observing field. Most observers are equipped with 12vdc battery power supplies and they may be recharged during the day at the outlets in the clubhouse or around the RV Loop. Please email if you have a question about power on the observing field. Thanks for understanding and helping all of us have an enjoyable star party. I look forward to seeing everyone at T-hoe on Thursday.Have a nice day and drive safely coming to the Party.Don…On Apr 15, 2012, at 7:39 AM, Don Surles wrote:Jonathan and all attendees to Delmarva Star Gaze…welcome to the Delmarva Star Gaze.To answer your question about 110vac on the field….the power service at Tuckahoe Equestrian Center is very limited and "questionable". I have never seen a GFI in the system. In the interest of safety we do not allow extension cords to run onto the observing field. Wet grass, 110vac, and extension cords of unknown quality are serious accidents waiting to happen. However there are a few 110vac outlets on posts around an "RV loop" where some people park their RV's and attach to 110vac. The RV loop is not in the best place for observing but you may find an empty pole if you are early.See you at Tuckahoe on Thursday.Don…On Apr 14, 2012, at 7:16 PM, Jonathan Coffin wrote:
Barring any difficulties, it looks like I'll be able to attend my first star party this week! Is there a specific time on Thurs when things begin? Also, for those like myself that have to use a CPAP, are there any hook-ups on the grounds there I could run an extension cord to?
Looking fwd to it. Clear skies!

It looks like Robert Hitt and I will once again miss the star party to due caregiving of a family member. I've missed more than I care to but family comes first, especially when the family member just celebrated her 106th birthday.
Yummy, I can just taste that hot dog you've had waiting and simmering for me for 18 months. Keep it going, I shall return. The advanced weather forcast look wonderful. Best of luck to you all. I'll be thinking of you.
