xpi p75d start problem
- Hi! I just found this group, although I've owned my p75 for about 5
years. I have a Latitude xpi 75D, original in-service date is
10/1995, and it generally was fine for what I needed. I upgraded the
OS to win98se so I could use usb via a pcmcia card I have. My LAN
card was working fine in the pcmcia slot after the upgrade, but the
usb 2.0 card was not even recognized.
My dad thought there might be a loose connection in the pcmcia
connector to the mainboard, so he took off the palmrest to get a
look. Nothing seemed obviously wrong, so he put it back together.
When we tried to start it up, absolutely nothing happened. No power
indicator light, no post, no beeps, nothing. We tried with and
without battery as well as AC adapter. It has to be something easy
that he disconnected or detached to kill the computer? Is there some
circuit breaker that can be tripped that will cause this symptom?
I thought it might be the latch detection switch, thinking that might
cause the computer to not start if it was jammed making the computer
think that the cover was closed, but it seems to be moving freely.
Any help for this old but trusty notebook?
