When this forum was launched, there were few things that were foremost
in the minds of people involved:
      1. To have a common platform for services pediatricians (and pediatric
surgeons-there are very few of them as members). This platform was to
be used to discuss professional things of common interest (latest
guidelines, difficult cases, journal snippings etc). To some extent,
though with hiccups, this is being done.
      2. To use this platform to motivate younger pediatricians so that they
get shaped into the team leaders of tomorrow. This purpose has not
been fulfilled at all. Blame lies on senior people on not providing
the appropriate guidance and on junior people on not coming forth to
show that they want to learn and seek appropriate guidance.
3.We always want a slice of cake for ourselves in national meetings,
but we fail to produce studies or research papers of good quality.
This common platform was meant to provide an opportunity to people to
come together for going for multicentric studies, free from the
encumbrances of AFMRC or PG dissertations. This aim has not been
served. And so long as this aim is not served, we shall continue to
remain a background lot at national forum/fora. If we start this in
real earnest, we shall be a force to envy and emulate.

Incidentally, please send your annual specialist returns carefully.
The format is changed. The Senior consultant has mentioned that he
will be evaluationg people based on their specialist returns. Please
show in detail your research work, your teaching activities and your
case reports with appropriate images etc. Warm regards

I agree it has become a forum of congratulations and good wishes but we need more active participation from our younger colleagues. Folks are you listening?

Please find attached a concept sheet , which should be filled before the start of any study. if before we start any study, we are able to answer all fill in the blanks I feel we would be able to do justice to study and also reduce our hassles in publishing our material when we end the study (because we would be defining our end points right in beginning).
suggestions to modify the concept sheet would be welcome, it would only help to refine the work that we do.
