Dark Tome Records is an underground, non-profit net-label started on December 17, 2007 by Thomas Thompson from the solo project Nocturnal Solitude and was originally a way to promote his music project, but it got him thinking "If it wasn't for some of the solo artists I wouldn't be where I am now".....so Thomas started reaching out to underground artists of the Dark Ambient, Funeral Doom, Death Doom, Sludge Doom, Gothic Doom, Black Metal, Symphonic Metal of all genres, Industrial, Dark Electronica, Dark Wave, Death Metal, Goth Rock, Gothic Metal and Gothic Instrumental genres, Dark Soundscapes, etc., In hopes to find a way to help those that have helped him and help them get their music out and heard. Basically the sole purpose of this mission is to get the beauty of the dark which is brought forth by the music of the artists, to share the passion of the music and the love for it. The darkness has a voice and it must be shared and heard, because the darkness is something that is very misunderstood and beautiful and many fear the dark because they do not understand. Now, to get to the important details or rather answers to the questions you may be thinking. First, there are NO CONTRACTS, NO FEES, NO PERCENTAGES TAKEN from album or merchandise sales, the Artists and bands keep all of the royalties themselves. Why should the Artist or band have to pay and sacrifice what they have worked so hard at, pay to have their music heard, not to mention sign a contract just to have half of their royalties garnished for studio time, promotion of new albums and merchandise? That's nonsense in itself. The goal is to see fellow musicians get their music out there and promote any albums, hit singles, live shows, etc. Dark Tome Records does NOT manufacture or sell CD's, that's for the Artists and Bands to do themselves, so don't worry your little head about it. Those under Dark Tome have the choice to leave, should they choose to do so, without having any issues.
