      Dear Group,

From "The Gift of Life" by Ven. Dr. Sobhita Thero

"There are three ways in the practice of dana:

      1. Danaparami - This is the commonly understood practice of the
giving of one's wealth, food and labour.

      2. Dana upa parami - This is a more vigorous form of giving, such as
the donation of one's blood, body parts or organs for the needy.

      3. Dana paramattha parami - This is the highest form of giving in
which one sacrifices one's life for the sake of others.
