Circus performers needed by Department of Theatre and Dance!!
The Granada Artists-in-Residence (choreographer Lea Anderson and filmmaker
Celia Lowenstein) are creating a piece called 'Poodle Postcard 2003' at
the Department of Theatre and Dance. The audience will be seated on the
stage of the Main Theatre and the dancers will be dancing in the
auditorium...the concept being to explore what happens when audiences'
emotional reactions are set free. Lea and Celia are looking for 6
individuals who can do acrobatics and/or JUGGLE (or perform other circus
tricks) to form the 'Poodle Postcard Band' itself, which will be what the
dancers (as a pretend 'audience') are 'watching'. This small group of
people is vital and needs to be spectacular.
The time requirement is minimal: only about 4 or 5 rehearsals, plus the
tech and dress rehearsals and the performance run (which is 3rd-7th Dec).
Performers can get academic credit for their work and will not need to
start rehearsing immediately. All rehearsals will be scehdulded to fit
AROUND performers' timetables.
If you think anyone in your club would be interested, please do let me
know! Or you could ask them to email me...
Thank you so much,
(Assistant Director, Poodle Postcard 2003)
