      Clemson keeps NCAA hopes alive
Vernon Hamilton scored six of his 10 points in overtime to help Clemson to a 74-70 win over Miami on Wednesday night. The Tigers (20-9, 6-9 ACC) shot just 14-for-31 from the foul line in the game, but made seven of their 10 free throws in overtime to stop a four-game losing streak and keep their faint hopes for an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament alive.

No. 14 Duke Falls To No. 24 Maryland, 85-77
No. 14 Duke fell to 24th-ranked Maryland, 85-77, in ACC men's basketball action on Wednesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium.  Greg Paulus led five Blue Devils in double figures with 20 points.

      Duke again plagued by Maryland
Both Duke and Maryland entered Wednesday night's showdown on rolls, neither having lost since the teams had met 17 days earlier.

Terps up tempo, down Blue Devils
Maryland is relentless in finishing a season sweep of Duke and getting its sixth straight win. Free-throw shooting betrays the Blue Devils, who can't finish better than sixth in the ACC with the 85-77 loss.

Red-Hot: No. 24 Terps Continue Dominance At Duke, 85-77
Mike Jones scored 25 points and D.J. Strawberry had a pair of baskets during the decisive second-half spurt Wednesday night to lead No. 24 Maryland past No. 14 Duke 85-77. Ekene Ibekwe also scored 17 points, while freshman Greivis Vasquez added 13 points and 12 assists to help Maryland sweep the season series with the Blue Devils for the second time in three years.

Terps hold on after Duke rallies for tie
Veteran team helps Maryland hold off Duke
Maryland reminded Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski of a team from decades past on Wednesday night. With three seniors and a junior in the starting lineup, the Terrapins knew how to get the ball into the lane against Duke's usually impenetrable defense.

      Cool at Cameron
Greivis Vasquez's near triple-double and Mike Jones' 25-point outburst sent the Terps to a 85-77 victory, their fourth in eight years at Cameron.

Vasquez at center of the Terrapins' victory
The next time somebody tells you to fear the turtle, ask them if they're Duke fans. What television sometimes doesn't show you is that when the clock was winding down in Maryland's 85-77 win over Duke Wednesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium, there was Terrapin 6-5 freshman guard Greivis Vasquez making strange faces at the Crazies.

Maryland Savoring Fruit Of His Labor
You would think by now that they might have figured out he's either deaf or gets rattled about as often as a corpse. Still, fans at Florida State, Clemson and every other school around the Atlantic Coast Conference try to get under Maryland senior D.J. Strawberry's skin every time he touches the basketball.

UNC has lost three of its past six games.

      Terry playing through pain
Reyshawn Terry hasn't looked like himself in recent games, and he believes there's a reason for it. "I'm not healthy, not where I want to be," said Terry, a senior forward on the North Carolina men's basketball team. "This tendinitis is really bothering me right now in my right knee. I'm just trying to fight through it and not think about it."

NC State beats Wake Forest, 73-66
Brandon Costner scored 19 points and North Carolina State used a hot start to beat Wake Forest 73-66 on Wednesday night and escape the Atlantic Coast Conference cellar. Ben McCauley had 17 points for the Wolfpack (15-13, 5-10), who set the tone with an early 17-4 run and remained in control for most of the way to snap a two-game losing streak. Gavin Grant added 13 points for N.C State, which shot 51 percent in sweeping Wake Forest for the first time since 2004.

      Clark steals show
NCSU coach Sidney Lowe wanted Justin Clark in the starting lineup. The 6-foot-4 senior has been one of the Pack's hardest workers in practice, and Lowe said he had earned the right to play. Clark was a most unlikely hero in N.C. State's 73-66 win over Wake Forest.

      Cavs don't need any motivation
Tonight, Virginia (19-8, 10-4) gets another shot at Virginia Tech (20-8, 10-4). This time, first place in the ACC will be on the line. Virginia, Virginia Tech and North Carolina are in a three-way tie. Reynolds and Jason Cain, both seniors, will be playing their final home game.

This is going to be a good one
No matter where your allegiances fall in tonight's basketball game between rivals Virginia and Virginia Tech, you might have wondered if you'd ever see this day come.

No. 1 slot in ACC on line
League honors, top seed are questions big game will help settle

Whats at stake: The Hokies, Cavaliers and Tar Heels are tied for first place with two games left. The Tech-UVa winner stays there, then waits to see if UNC can do the same. What it takes to win the top seed: The Hokies win twice or finish in a tie; the Cavaliers must have the fewest losses; the Tar Heels must have fewer losses than the Hokies.
