I just found your website and am disappointed that we missed the reunion. My husband was
born in Stanesti in 1945 and his sister was born there in 1933. Their names are Norman and
Eleanor Sussman. Ellie's married name is Berger. While I realize that Stanestis was a small
shtetl back then, there were several generations of Sussmans there. They survivied the war,
the death march to Transnistia, and slave labor near Odessa, due to their father, Abraham's
vigilance. He is written about in a book in English.
We are visitng with Ellie and her husband, Marvin, and our two children, Rebecca is 21 and
Zach is 18. We'll be taking the night train from Kiev and will stay at the Cheremosh hotel.
If anyone has any recommendations or information about historical sites or restaurants, we'd
appreciate your suggestions.
I'll be checking e-mails as we travel. We depart today for Edinburgh.
Many thanks for your help.
