My operating area collects a lot of dust, so it'd be nice to keep it
off the bug, and I was looking to accessorize, but wondering if people
found that it interfered with their fingers.

The front of the cover seems to encroach pretty far out the finger
      pieces.

Of course, I guess I could just take it off when I'm using it, but
would be nice to know if I can use it on.

        John,
My dust cover is Muslin.  Use a piece to cover the rig and the keys.  Works great, inexpensive, catches dust, doesn't hold in moisture, and is off and on in a "swoop"!
