      Hey SKCCers,

I am a proud owner of a "new" Navy Flameproof. The cable I have with
it looks like an original but did not come connected to the key.

My first thought was to crimp on some lugs, but there's not a lot of
room under the cover for lugs. I'm also curious as to where the
insulation is cut back (it seems the outer insulation is too think to
pass through the opening in the plastic cover.)

Can anyone tell me what the original, "correct" way of connecting the
cable to the posts is? Anyone have a close-up photo of what's going
      on under the cover?

Is there a preferred orientation (without any other instruction, I'd
consider the ring to be ground and connect that to whatever contact
makes contact with the housing, if either does.

Oh....and how to people grip that funky knob when they use it? Do
you actually grasp it, or just tap on the top with your index finger
      or what?

      Thanks,
      John
