      Hello, CW Bugs enthusiasts:

I have picture of the two most prized items from my CW hobby in
Amateru Radio hamming, etc. Will post a picture here later.

The bug was my fathers, and made for Postal Telegraph, where
he learned click-click code. When Postal Telegraph ended in
the Great Depression, Uncle Sam found that my dad was an expert
with telegraph sending and receiving, and he had an old Class A
(1934) FCC license to show for it. A full commander in dress white
uniform found Dad in Pine Bluff one day, and said "Uncle Sam needs
you in the United States Navy. He was appointed to a crack team
of eight hams who were also crack operators, and they were the
heavy-duty CW team for Eighth Naval District HQ in New Orleans,
until the necessity for sea-duty pulled them into Blue Waters.

Now, this is the 21st Century, about 75 years later, and I am a
recovering ham radio addict, with more than 50 years of being
high and dry. That is another story for another time..

Instead, I have been into model railroading. Read on:

Dick.. Neat Stuff !  I have an Old O Scale (I think ? Three Rails !) Train Set my Dad got me back in the mid 60's.. when I was a lil guy !  I will have to find it in the box and perhaps 'You would know its vintage', etc.  I am sure it is a 50's vintage set..so 'kept it away from the kids/grand kids as 'It Was Mine' !
Interesting about your Father as well ! I was always interested in Radio since a youngster..only to find out a few years back.. my Grandfather was a CW Op' in Germany during WWI and WWII !  I got my Ham Ticket in '84..and was born in Canada..so that's 'All before my time' (born in '62) ! Grampa passed away in '77..and he did not know English at all..but still remember him ! Just never knew he was a 'CW Man' !  I am sure he would be 'Proud of Me Now' ! Great thing about this Hobby..we 'All have something in common.. besides Radio' !  73

          Hi, Jerry:

Thanks for your reply.  My Dad was was a super fine CW operator.  After
only 20 minutes on a one-way encrypted message session
          that Navy called
FOX broadcasts from Navy HQ in Washington D.C., his work was
          so flawless
that the Chief over de-encryption popped out and shouted, "Who
          the hell
is GX?" (my father's sig as the one who copied the CW FOX stuff).
My father lifted his hand and said, "I did."

The Chief ordered him to "hit the head and come right back.  You will stay
with us from now on."  That ended his "boot camp" and he was part of the
crack operating team that held New Orleans HQ together for the next three
          years.

Will go to sleep now.  Been a very long day.

          73s & G'nite,
          Dick
