      Hi Donny,

Those are rivets. I punch them out with my watchmaker's staking tool. I then
turn new rivets out of silver-nickel or half-hard lead brass rod if I am going to
re-plate the rod. I have not found any ready made, but you might try Vibroplex.
I forgot what the diameter of the rivet body is. I have, or hope I still have the pin
to punch them out with as I use it to also punch the new springs when I replace
them. I start with 1/8" rod which is the size of the head or 0.125".  The body is
about 0.090", if I remember correctly.  I don't have my notes up here in the
States with me, nor are they in the computer, something I need to fix.

Funny you should bring it up as I am ordering some more rod today to take
back to Belize with me just for that.

Does anyone know the size and possibly a source for the small round headed brad pins used to secure the pendulum rod to the main levers flat spring on Vibroplex bugs?

      Thanks, Donnie

I have gone to a good hardware store and found brass brads of the correct
diameter, cut them to length and peened them like a rivet. Worked quite
well, I plated them with a nickle plating kit I had from Antique electronic
supply. Also found brass brads that worked for attaching labels.
I used a jewelers staking set to punch out those brads and pushing them
back in, peening them etc. Watch ebay for cheap deals on staking sets,
they are super for working on bugs and other small items.
