      Hi all,
      I just received a Vibroplex champion that has a government (Navy) part number on the base. All the J36's I've seen were Lightning Bugs.
      Would the Champion still be considered a J36 or, does it have it's own designator?

      From what i understand all government bugs are designated as J-36. Not all are Lightning bug styled though that seems to be the most popular. Apparently

        Not all are Lightning bug styled though that seems to be the most popular.
        Apparently manufacturers were allowed some liberties (unlike the R-390 where they were all basically clones of the Collins). A Bunnell J-36 uses a cast frame and Champ style damper.
