GHD GN907 New Owner!
- I just received a GN907 after an unbelievably generous deal. What a
beautiful looking machine. What an unbelievably complex machine to
I have the semi-auto mode going very well. Compared to my older
vibroplexes it is more crisp but also less forgiving. Let me see if I
Compared to my 48 Blue Racer, there is less play in all the parts.
The Blue Racer feels very comfortable to me, like sitting in a cushy
chair watching TV. The GHD has no play. Everything feels precise. It
is almost like sitting in an ergonomically designed office chair and
getting down to business.
When locked in semi mode it is a natural transition from the
Vibroplex. It took me only a few minutes of practice to get the
timing down mostly correct. In auto mode - it is like nothing you
have used before. I've heard some say it feels like paddles. Not for
me. I'm used to Iambic paddles and this is a different beast
altogether. It will take some getting used to and a lot of playing
with the adjustments.
The instructions that came with the bug are OK. Plenty of detail but
obviously translated from another language. It is going to take a lot
of experimenting to get things dialed in properly.
Thank you to Jim, N3ZJ for such a wonderful Christmas present.
A couple of pictures will be in the photos section shortly.
- What goes around, comes around.
Kevin is being rewarded for his own generosity.
I hadn't said anything in public before only because I didn't want
anyone thinking, "Why didn't Keving do that for me," but when I was new
to the SKCC and Yahoo group, and he didn't know me from Adam, but I
expressed an interest in learning to use a bug, and Kevin made me a
ridiculously generous offer to acquire on his bugs. He even gave me a
choice - I could have a classic 1940-something model, or a late model
Vibroplex Standard. I was more interested in using than collecting, so
selected the like-new late model bug for which parts are available.
I am thrilled with the bug and dumbfounded at Kevin's generosity toward
me, and I am thrilled that someone showed this generosity toward Kevin!
