      I would almost bet there is some bit of corrosion on one of the grounds, or perhaps on that beam. You might do pretty good by putting a ferrite bead (or several) on the coax -- I think nearer the beam is better, but a bead can hardly hurt anywhere you put it. When I have a similar problem on a mobile, a bead on the coax near the base of the antenna usually cures the problem.
