      It sure looks like the Speedex bug shown in the picture.
      Tom says it did not have a label and the base was almose the size
      of the Blue Racer.

      Hi Don... yep that s it all right (7318.jpg), for sure! Interesting -- the base is exactly 2.5 and is powder black; the housing for the pivot and vibrator

        It looks like Speed-x started under that name in 1934 and sold to Les Logan in 1937. I suspect from hours of reading on the net, that the narrow base, black, no label bug was probably made between 1934 and 1937.
