Announcing the New Central Region Area 3 Venturing President
- Announcing Our New Central Region Area 3 Venturing President
The Central Region Area 3 Venturing Committee and Fred Wallace, Area 3
Director, are proud to announce that the 2010-2011 Central Region Area 3
Venturing President is Dustin Readenour.
Dustin is completing his Sophomore year at Marquette High School in
Chesterfield, MO. He serves as Crew Vice President of Administration for
Crew 2783 out of Ballwin, MO. Dustin is entering his 3rd year in
Venturing in the Greater St. Louis Area Council.
For the past year, he has served as a member of his Council's
Venturing Officer Association and as President of New Horizon
District's Venturing Officer Association. New Horizon District is a
very large district and serves more Scouts then most councils.
Dustin has earned his Outdoor Bronze Award. He has also recently
completed his Venturing Gold Award and Silver Award. He has completed
the Venturing Leadership Skills Course, and the new Crew Leadership
Training. This past summer he completed a Kodiak Trek at Philmont under
the trek direction of Amanda Vogt, past National Venturing President.
This fall he looks to complete the Kodiak X Course and the new Mentoring
Tomorrow's Leaders course. Dustin is also an Eagle Scout and active
Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow.
Dustin participated at the Central Region Area 3 Venturing Conference in
Normal, IL this past January. And in February he attended the Southern
Region's Winterfest in Gatlinburg, TN. He traveled this past March
with Sarah Ward, the 2009-10 Area 3 Venturing President, to the Lewis &
Clark Council in Illinois to present the importance of forming a
Venturing Officer Association for the council.
Dustin will serve this summer as the Commissary Manager at Camp Famous
Eagle at the S-F Scout Ranch in southern Missouri. It is his 2nd year as
a member of the Greater St. Louis Area Council camp staff. Also this
summer, Dustin will attend the Central Region's Venturing Planing
Conference in Evansville, IN as a member of the Central Region Venturing
Youth Cabinet. There he will participate in the training and orientation
of the Central Region Venturing Youth Cabinet. At the ScoutQuest100
event (predicted to be the 2nd largest BSA Centennial event) being held
in early June this summer in St. Louis, Dustin will serve as the youth
chair for one of the largest activities at this huge event. Dustin is
also actively involved in the planning for Venturing's first
National Venturing Event, the Fall Fun Rally.
Dustin brings a lot of experience to the position of Area 3 Venturing
President. He looks forward to the challenge of helping council's
develop VOA's where they don't yet exist and in supporting the
existing VOA's. He looks to continue developing an Area 3 Venturing
Officers Association that will consist of each Council's VOA
President and two Area Venturing Vice-Presidents.
Please join in welcoming Dustin Readenour as our new Central Region Area
3 Venturing President. His term of office starts June 1st.
Yours in Venturing,
Area 3 Venturing Committee Chair
