(add 50 min. each day after)

High Tide- 8.34 ft at 4:25 pm
Low Tide: .34 ft at 10:06 am

      NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Stay in the Caribbean for the contest this weekend! The
north Nicoya gets lucky with a short burst of chest to head high
waves Sunday and Monday with the incoming tide. The southern
beachbreaks chest high on average. By next Tuesday, breaks south of
Jaco will see a slow recovery to some overhead decency with super
clean dawn patrol conditions. Wednesday afternoon will see the first
pulses of a big WNW ground swell that will kick it up to 2 foot
overhead by Friday. And it's back by more from the SW due during next
      weekend.

Caribbean - Head high with overhead sets this evening but dropping
tomorrow down to head high. Sunday smaller, down to chest high with a
still a few overhead sets every twenty minutes. Monday the swell
reutrns and by Monday evening more overhead surf hits the coast.
Tuesday fades about a foot but looks to get bigger going into next
      weekend.

      AREA REPORTS

      NICOYA (N)

** From Diana, the best surf instructor in Tamarindo -

If only there were waves in Tamarindo to report! The new year has
brought lots of beautiful sunshine and off-shore winds, but we need a
swell! Tamarindo is breaking knee to waist high; Langosta maybe a
foot bigger. The water is cool, but not too cold.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): Nothing big in the forecast,
unfortunately. Teach a friend to surf! No hay pronosticos de olas,
desafortunadamente. Ensenale a un amigo a surfear!

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
right now. Options nearby are Playa Grande, Playa Langosta, and Playa
Avellanas. It might be a good time for a drive to Nosara. Ahorita no
hay nada en el Lago de Tamarindo. Playa cercanas son Playa Grande,
Playa Langosta y Playa Avellanas. Puede ser un buen momento para un
      viaje a Playa Nosara.

** From Carlos at Roca Bruja Surf Tours in Playa de Coco-

      OPERATION. VISIT www.costaricasurftrips.com

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande:

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones:
Very small: waist high, with the very occasional chest high wave.
Beautiful conditions--offshore winds all day long, nice shape--but
      just too small.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): Maybe a little increase in the swell,
      but nothing much.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Whatever swell is in the water
seems to be hitting the middle of Tamarindo bay, and missing the
northern areas of Playa Grande. Try Tamarindo, and the southern half
      of Playa Grande.

** From Marco at Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa -

      surfiar,playa carmen,frente tropico latino...we expect same
      condition..pura vida! Marco

      JACO & HERMOSA

** From Chuck at Chosita del Surf in Jaco -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y
condiciones:Okay heres the real deal , I had a visit from Barbie
yesterday and she said she saw Ken get some great double overhead
barrels at the corner yesterday , wind was light N.E. and the lines
were clean and long ! Expect the swell to drop off a little more over
the next week but still gonna be big enough for KEN !

** From Tommy at Rancho Coral in Esterillos -

Local Climate: Sunny, Air Temp: 93F. Water Temp 85F, Direction &
