I think this is another "Here we go again" Jesus documentary. Jesus'
baptism and the place where it happened, like many of the other things
recorded in the New Testament and traditions, occurred in the obscurity of
every day life in first century Palestine. There was no Dan Rather or CNN
on the scene to record the baptism of a Galilean peasant by John the Baptist
who baptized hundreds. Most of the "Jesus did this here" or "Jesus did that
there" sites scattered around the Holy Land are third and fourth century
inventions for pilgrims. Even the site of Golgotha and the sepulchre
enclosed by the holiest church in Christendom was discovered by Constanine's
mother. Some report in a dream. We cannot even be certain that this site is
certain for a crucifixion and burial that would have passed unnoticed among
thousands of crucifixions. Again we have non-specialists, dressed like
Indiana Jones, in search of a holy site..or object. The most that can be
said is that this was a pilgrimage site long after the actual event.

        Jack
