Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Ian, but it appears that
your own reasoning that the Sadducees were not present in the
first century rests on a series of imputations, whose evidentiary
basis is unfortunately much weaker than the attested personal
knowledge of a contemporary.
One of your assumptions appears to be that "one can take texts
produced under the Zadokites as representative of the Sadducees."
However, it is dangerous to impute the beliefs of a first century
group to a group that predates them by several generations. If
you're right, then most African-Americans would still be Republicans.
In addition, you haven't even begun to prove your premise, that
Daniel and Enoch were produced under the Zadokites.
