Texecution Gurneys on CBC-TV
- Coast to coast to coast in Canada, East to West, South to the North
Pole, every newscast has a piece on the group now in Texas seeking
a stay in Execution for a Canadian whom Texas never even told the
Embassy he was charged. Yet he's been on Death Row for over twenty
years. Canada's Foreign Minister asked Secretary of State Madeline
Albright to request a meeting of this group with Governor Bush
and he has passed on the request to the Parole/Pardon Board who
have agreed to meet with the group this coming Wednesday, day before
the execution. One in the Group is David Milgard's mother whose
son was recently freed from nearly 25 years of prison when DNA
proved him innocent. Also, Archbishop Desmond Tutu has written
to Gov. Bush supporting the appeal.
Also, today is the tenth Anniversary of LePin's Massacre of 14
women at L'Ecole Poloytechnique in Montreal and the end of the first
week of full gun registration in Canada.
