Introducing a New Intelligent Design Curriculum: Discovering Intelligent Design
- How exciting! Arriving before a working theory and research based on it:
"It's brand new and launching today! Discovering Intelligent Design
(DID) is the first full curriculum to present the scientific evidence
for intelligent design in both cosmology and biology in an
easy-to-understand format. The curriculum includes a textbook, a
workbook, and a DVD with multimedia video clips that are integrated
into the readings. Developed by home school educators Gary and Hallie
Kemper, and Discovery Institute research coordinator Casey Luskin, DID
uniquely fills a specific niche in the intelligent design literature."
Their 'disclaimer' in the introduction:
<<<As a matter of public policy, Discovery Institute opposes any
effort to require the teaching of intelligent design by school
districts or state boards of education. Attempts to mandate teaching
about intelligent design only politicize the theory and will hinder
fair and open discussion of the merits of the theory among scholars
and within the scientific community. Furthermore, most teachers at the
present time do not know enough about intelligent design to teach
about it accurately and objectively. Instead of mandating intelligent
design, Discovery Institute seeks to increase the coverage of
evolution in textbooks. It believes that evolution should be fully and
completely presented to students, and they should learn more about
evolutionary theory, including its unresolved issues.>>>
Soooooo, DI created a "full curriculum to present the scientific
evidence for intelligent design in both cosmology and biology in an
easy-to-understand format" that "includes a textbook, a workbook, and
a DVD with multimedia video clips that are integrated into the
readings" but they "[oppose] any effort to require the teaching of
intelligent design by school districts or state boards of education".
In otherwords, DI says that ID is science.
The issue is that only science should be taught in the science classroom.
DI says they oppose ID being taught in the science classroom.
