You can select mm for the drawing on the Options - Properties dialog. If you want a NEW drawing to come up mm then you should create and save a template

Well, Cadrail does not handle all forms of 3d objects. There is no 3d spherical object. There is only flat polygons. So you need to make a mesh ie series of
