This weekend is the Natural Living Expo (www.naturallivingexpo.org) which has a wealth of information, with most of it free.
Find the Expo at the Polk County Convention Complex (501 Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA) on Saturday, March 27 from 10–6 and Sunday, March 28 from 11–4. Parking and admission are FREE!
The Expo features more than 150 vendors with products and services for natural and green living. You'll be able to browse green builders, wellness practitioners, community organizations, specialty retailers, pet care providers, transportation agents and more. When you need to take a break, watch the entertainment on the stage and enjoy fresh, organic food from the Organic Valley Cafe. For kids, there's an entire area with storytelling, art and activities like hula-hooping and yo-yos. There's also an impressive lineup of more that 30 educational presentations, covering topics such as local food and farming, feng shui, mindful consumerism, health and wellness, green home renovations and more.
New this year is the Saturday night EcoParty, A Celebration of Food and Fashion (and Folks!) from 6–9 pm. Michele Beschen from Iowa Public Television's b. organic emcees the eco-fashion show, and with samples of fantastic local and organic food and drink, it's going to be a fun event! Tickets for the show are $10 in advance/$15 at the door and are available through www.naturallivingexpo.org.
