This was a very, very good point. A Godly spouse is a blessing, not a cure. I don't think it would be helpful for this man at this point, to push the idea of marriage on him. And I don't think it would be at ALL fair to a woman to expect her to come in and "fix" someone else's struggles in this area.
My heart breaks over this man's loneliness. I think we can all understand the fear of spending our lives without companionship or intimate love. Loneliness is a truly awful thing. However---I do think that we as Christians need to realize that ultimately and firstly, Christ is the source of love, hope, fulfillment, and contentment; both in the temporal realm, and throughout eternity. Yet it's so easy to SAY "Christ is my all", and so hard to live it. Please encourage your friend to keep his eyes on the Lord; point him to passages like Psalm 51, and remind him that his is not at
all a hopeless situation. And as the Lord has promised us "plans for good and not evil, to give you an expected end", this struggle has not come into your friend's life simply to punish him.
Also, maybe it would comfort him to know that we will be keeping him earnestly in prayer.
I do not believe that it would be righteous for your friend to marry or to seek marriage at this point while he is in such a state. He is not fit for marriage yet! Marriage is wonderful thing, but it is also a grave responsibility, most especially for the man who must represent Christ. For your friend to marry when he is so clearly not ready for the life of sacrifice required of a husband would be not only a gross error in my opinion, but a grave injustice to the woman he would marry. Women are not
a "cure" for men with homosexual problemsJesus Christ is! A wife is a gift from the Lord that requires great care. To thrust or encourage a man into marriage because of some hope that marriage will heal him is to place the gift above the Giver and to misplace faith
I waited for the Lord
He stooped and heard my cry
He brought me from the pit
Out of the dungeon mire
My feet set on a rock
My footsteps made secure
My lips He gave a song
A song to praise our God
