      List,

I will admit up front that I am a novice in this field, but what
I have read has given me more than a suspicious feeling towards none-
TR/MT based translations. Someone asked about what kind of
doctrinal differences does the none- TR/MT bring to
translations...From the TBS web site I found these...maybe this is
what the person was asking about?

A list of Omissions and Changes
Found in Most Modern New Testaments

Unless otherwise noted, the variant listed represents an omission
      from the Traditional Text.

In instances of change, the Authorised Version reading, which
represents the reading of the Traditional Text, is given in
comparison with the critical text reading as found in the New
      American Standard Bible.

in some versions, or a problematic footnote is given
      24.36 -- 'Jesus'
24.40 -- Some versions omit or bracket this verse. It is found in
every Greek manuscript of Luke except for one fifth century Western
manuscript. The omission results from radical New Testament
criticism principles. Some versions have misleading or incorrect
      footnotes regarding this.
24.52 -- Some versions omit 'they worshiped him' from this verse for
the same reasons as in the case of the omissions in 24.40; however,
some critical editions of the Greek New Testament include it.
Without it the risen Lord is not receiving worship from His people.

6.47 -- 'on me' [note: not just 'believing' secures everlasting
life, but believing 'in me' (Jesus)]

to 'you are the Holy One of God' [note: Messiahship and

From the TBS web site I found these...maybe this is

        >

        Dear Edgar,

The Majority Byzantine Text-type contains differences amongst itself
to such a serious degree that this prima facie problem of TR:UBS
differences is again repeated within the 'traditional' text itself to
no less present a degree when a particular TR is collated to the
        Majority text.

This to me poses a vast dilemma for attempts to meaningfully argue
reductio ad chartum against the UBS text, but still claim to be
traditional text defenders, when what are they really saying? If any
translatable difference with the TR (and which TR edition?) is going
to be fought tooth and nail and never accepted, then how could the
majority Byzantine readings themselves not be rejected by that same
logic, even if the majority text is by definition what we mean by
        calling it the 'traditional' text?

        Sincerely,

        Chris

Sorry, this most certainly IS NOT true. ALL manuscripts have differences, of all text-types! So what? All text critics admit that the Ecclesiastical Text (Byzantine Text), is the most coherent, the most homogeneous, the most carefully copied, with the fewest textual variants of all text types. Finally, NONE of the textual variations within the Ecclesiastical Text/TR challenges ANY doctrine at all! Even leaving out the comma Johanneum, Augustine still found the Trinity in what remains of 1 Jn 5: 8! Just because the Trinitarian Bible Society claims the TR is inerrant, doesn't mean they speak for all the rest of us who actually sudy this matter with some care and who realize that such language can never be used in reference to the Biblical text (but for their imaginary "autographa"). The Ecclesiastical Text and the TR represent the only form of the text that the orthodox Church has ever had as a referent for the inspired, infallible text of Scripture (a la the WCF); and in either form, The Byzantine MSS, or the published TR, it stands miles above the "eclectic" text which can be found in no one manuscript in the world because it was pieced together by "scholars," just as the Five Gospels of the Jesus Seminar was pieced together by "scholars."

          Dear Edgar,

The Majority Byzantine Text-type contains differences amongst itself
to such a serious degree that this prima facie problem of TR:UBS
differences is again repeated within the 'traditional' text itself to
no less present a degree when a particular TR is collated to the
          Majority text.
