      DataRat, <br><br>Thanks for joining the club, and
      for your question. Yes, I do believe that God
      provided us with the only hymnal we are to use in worship
      of Him -- the Psalter. The Westminster Standards
      hold forth this position as well:<br><br>"The reading
      of Scriptures with godly fear; the sound preaching
      and conscionable hearing of the Word, in obedience
      unto God, with understanding, faith, and reverence;
      SINGING OF PSALMS with grace in the heart..... are all
      parts of ordinary religious worship of God...." (WCF
      21:5)<br><br>"It is the duty of Christians to praise God
      publickly, by singing of psalms together in the
      congregation, and also privately in the family." (Directory for
      the Publick Worship of God).<br><br>In accordance
      with the Scriptures which teach:<br><br>"Sing unto
      him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous
      works" (1 Chronicles 16:9).<br><br>"Let us come before
      his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful
      noise unto him with psalms" (Psalm 95:2).<br><br>"Sing
      unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his
      wondrous works" (Psalm 105:2).<br><br>"And be not drunk
      with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the
      Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and
      spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to
      the Lord" (Ephesians 5:18,19).<br><br>"Let the word
      of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
      teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns
      and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your
      hearts to the Lord" (Colossians 3:16).<br><br>"Is any
      among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let
      him sing psalms" (James 5:13).<br><br>If God handed
      you a hymnal, and told you to sing, what would YOU
