The 1802's "LOAD" mode (both CLEAR and WAIT pins low) is used by the
keypad and hex LED display. The 1804/5/6 do not have "LOAD" mode.
Instead, "LOAD" mode is the same as "RUN" but enables internal ROM and RAM.
Pin 16 on the 1802 is VCC (tied to +5v). Pin 16 on the 1804/5/6 becomes
an I/O pin used for memory chip select. Read the data sheet for your
particular chip carefully to see what to do with this pin.
ICEs have the same problem as light bulbs. Why innovate and make better
ones when the current ones burn out often enough to keep you in
