Announcing Coryphæus version 4.5.5
- This release fixes further bugs introduced in 4.4, and has further changes to accommodate Outlook's implementation of Simple MAPI. There are some cosmetic fixes. The program has a lot of additional exception traps. There were situations where a database duplicate-key error (caused, say by trying to rename a player to a name that already existed on another record) would get trapped by madExcept and reported as a full-scale crash.
Before version 4.4, the program would simply refuse to accept the update and would blandly do nothing until you got the message and either abandoned the change or did something else.
But from 4.4, madExcept would pop up as if it were a full-scale crash. Its report (if you asked for it and scrolled down far enough) would often reveal that the problem was a duplicate key, and that pressing Continue application was quite ok. But that is not what it looked like.
These new traps may have the effect of suppressing a real problem so that madExcept does not report it. We shall just have to see.
