Announcing Coryphæus version 4.2
- Coryphæus 4.2 is now available in the Files section. This release is
mostly minor fixes. There's a list of fixes in a file called Fixed in
The only new functionality is support for authenticated SMTP. If you
plan to send messages via SMTP, you can set it up now, and use the
Test button to see if it works. This will send a test message (to your
own address, not to the forum). So you don't have to have a deal
running before you try it.
I've been using Google Mail to test authenticated SMTP so I can post
its settings here.
Select Options | Messaging. Choose the appropriate tab, Public
Messages or Private Messages. If you plan to use SMTP for both then
set up Public Messages first. The Private Messages tab has a button to
copy the public settings.
Click Email via SMTP. Then enter
Sender email: (must be a Google email address)
Name/port: smtp.googlemail.com 587
This server requires authentication.
This server requires a secure connection.
Account: (must be a Google email address, in full)
You have to enter the password for the Test button to work.
Checking Remember will save your password, encrypted, in the Registry.
(The encryption used is AES, the US Government standard.) If you don't
check Remember you will be asked for the password at connect time.
Running Setup will overwrite your data files, including the files
profile.* containing your message templates. If this is a problem,
copy these files somewhere safe beforehand, and use TemplateViewer to
put the messages back afterwards.
