Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
      corsicalista group:

Would a Great Britain-Corsica Friendship Association be a good idea?

Such an Association would promote cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and a modest schedule of activities including one or two meetings a year in Britain and Corsica.

o Great idea! Let's get one going.
o Not such a good idea! I don't see the point of it.
      o I'm not sure.

        Hello,
It sounds like a good idea to me. I just helped set up an association
where I live in France. My one suggestion would be to open it up a
little and maybe call it an English Speakers-Corsica Friendship
        Association? Jeff

            Hello,
It sounds like a good idea to me. I just helped set up an association
where I live in France. My one suggestion would be to open it up a
little and maybe call it an English Speakers-Corsica Friendship
            Association? Jeff

The reason we posited a GB-Corsica Friendship Asssociation rather than a worldwide one is that there is already such an association, viz Corsica Diaspora (http://www.corsicadiaspora.com/).

If a GB-Corsica Association does get going I think it would be a natural progression to affiliate to Corsica Diaspora.

In the meantime, there are obvious organisational drawbacks to starting a big international organisation now. Where to hold the meetings? How to fund it? Etc etc.

Also, there are very special links between GB and Corsica (NB. Boswell, the Anglo-Corsican kingdom, Paoli's exile in London, Carrington). I would be happier if more people understood about these links - Corsicans and Brits alike.

              All the best,

              Mac

                Greetings,
Anything that can promote cultural/educational exchanges always sounds like a good idea. Although I live in the USA, I do intend to spend a greater amount of time in Corsica as I approach retirement. My wife is from Puerto Rico & my mother is Corsican. The idea brings to mind the possibility of creating something similar between Corsica and Puerto Rico.
                Best to all.
