      Reminder

Sadly after many years we have announced that these reports are coming to an end.  All is not lost, however, there is the Coronation Street Blog.  If you have not seen it already it is bigger and brighter than than these reports, and has much more information as well, so if you follow Corrie, I would suggest you head over there and join Flamin' Nora and her team!  Also the Corrieweeks updates continue distilling the six episodes into a single email for those who prefer delivery to their inbox - The URL with instructions to sign up to the list is on corrie.net: http://www.corrie.net/updates/maillist.html

Thank you all for your support in the past.  Our final reports will be at the end of the month (Friday 30 March).  But for now, onwards with today's report which is late as a result of my holiday.

      Update

This is episode 9406.  It was written by Jonathan Harvey and it was directed by Vicky Thomas.  Copyright remains the property of ITV to whom many thanks.

We open with Fiz at home washing up and talking to Tyrone as she has been having second thoughts and Ruby does not need to see a therapist.  Ty points out that was shy she walked out.  Ty now feels they ought to know if Ruby has inherited something from Kirsty.  Fiz reckons that Ruby just needs a good strong family around her.  Fiz says she wants to make "us" work!  Not that she has forgiven Ty of course.

In the back room of the Rovers Eva is stuffing her face with "Monster Flakes" which are moreish and Leanne has a leaflet on Weatherfield Sports Courses.  Toyah arrives and says she has heard that the courses are really advanced - she has even seen ambulances outside!  Leanne is up for it - and Eva is still eating cereal!  Leanne says exercise is good for waistlines if you have put a bit on!  Eva "Oh my God!  Did you actually just fat shame me to my actual face?"  Leanne backs up quickly.  Eva says she is snacking because she has been pounding the streets looking for Billy and Leanne can shove her leaflet in her saggy leotard.

Josh and David are in a pub somewhere with pints.  Josh is getting David to talk about Nick.  David lets slip he spent time in Young Offenders and when he came back Nick had changed.  And then Nick went.  And Martin is no better David adds.  Josh assures David he has his back!  David acknowledges it, makes a joke about his back being his best feature!

Fiz thanks Roy for picking up Ruby from school.  Roy is pleased that she and Ty are sorting things out.  Ty is cuddling the two girls and Joseph is playing at the table.  Ty says there have been some strange things happening recently and looking at Ruby he says they have to stop.  Hope tells him it is nice to have Daddy back.  Hope heads to the bottom of the stairs and Fiz follows her.  Hope thanks Fiz for not telling Daddy she was bad and Fiz wants a promise that Hope will be super nice from now on.  Hope agrees.

In the Street Kev, Jack and Chesney are kicking a football around.  Roy asks if the garage is quiet this afternoon.  There is a little inconsequential chat.

Elsewhere in the Street Ali tries to walk past Michelle ignoring her.  She wants to talk, he doesn't.  Apparently Wendy was in earlier.  Ali tells Michelle that he hopes other people can hear her when she speaks as he can only hear an annoying white noise.  And he stalks away.

Shona is unable to raise David - just getting his voicemail she tells Gail who reckons he deserves a blow out with his new best friend after the hoo hah with Martin.  Lily is not well and has missed a school trip - Gail offers to ring the school to get the £10 back but Shona says she is capable of doing it.  Shona is going to ring David again.  Gail suggests she is jealous.  She denies it - but is not sure David should have all the fun!  Gail observes that Shona might be lonely as she does not seem to have many friends.  Shona says she has friends.  Gail then wants to tell her a story about visiting a Safari Park.  Shona cuts her short and makes up her mind to have some fun herself - she is off to the Rovers.

Josh is revealing that his dad was not much of a father either - money in a card and not much of that.  His parents split when he was 6 or 7.  His mother then went off regularly with a succession of truckers, some of whom were called Richard.  David recalls Gail married a Richard - not a trucker but a serial killer.  Then there was the guy who tried to fake his death and died in the process.  But the serial killer was the worst.  David recalls the attempted murder in the canal.  And that the papers got his age wrong!  David adds that Gail was always bringing home dodgy blokes.  Josh says they have a lot in common.  David adds that Audrey was apparently as bad.  And now they are born again prudes!  David says they should toast all the "uncles" in the world.  David is really necking his beer whilst Josh is having the odd sip.  David goes to the toilet and Josh pours some "GHB" into his own drink and then pours a lot more into David's drink.

After the break David returns and apologises for being boring and slagging off Shona, Gail and Audrey; Josh assures him he is hilarious - well as much as you when discussing mass murder!  Josh forces the drink on David who suggests he has had enough - but Josh is insistent and David can stay at his place to prevent upsetting Shona.  David agrees to it.

Chesney arrives to collect Joseph.  He is surprised to find Ty cuddling the girls and looking happy with life.  Chesney insists Fiz talks with him in the hall where she tells him they are giving it another go.  Chesney says he took SInead back when she was unfaithful and look how that turned out!  Fiz says she and Ty are different.  Ty assures Chesney he loves Fiz.  Fiz adds that she wants to give their family a chance.  Chesney gets Joseph and goes - but he is not happy.  Chesney tells Fiz she is making a pretty big mistake.

Shona is in the Rovers; Kev is at the bar and Leanne and Toyah are serving.  David is still not answering his phone.  Shona expresses displeasure at David getting kay-lied with Josh - "bromance of the century" apparently.  Kev does not think they will be getting drunk as both are in training.  Shona is now more upset as if he is not drinking he has no reason not to answer her calls.  She wants another drink.

Michelle comes into the Rovers.  Ali is not pleased so Michelle leaves again.

Toyah goes in the back - Eva reckons Leanne is obsessed with her.  Toyah has a plan - they will go to antenatal classes together but tell Leanne it is a fitness class.  Eva spots the flaw in this - Leanne will want to go along as well.  Eva continues snacking and Toyah promises a new plan.  Toyah offers her a plum.  Eva refuses and goes into the bar with Toyah to get some crisps.  Steve comes into the bar and sees Ali and buys him a drink.  Toyah tells Leanne the two sisters are going on a computer course and Leanne still wants to join them.  Eva changes it to Spanish and Leanne backs down - she never was very good at languages.  Steve sits down with Ali who has had a "day".  He had a run-in with Wendy his "mum", the first time he has seen her in four years.  Apparently they never got back on track after the trouble a few years ago.  Wendy became obsessed with Ryan and Ali did not get a look in.  Wendy probably loves him - but it is not obvious.  Wendy will not forgive him for the time he spent with Michelle.  His return has opened up old wounds.  Which is why he cannot let Michelle back into his life.  There has been too much hurt already.  Steve is sympathetic.

Josh has brought David back to his flat - David is staggering around and feels odd, can't hold his booze.  Josh gets David to sit down.  David is giggling and says he feels nice.  Josh agrees - he is buzzing as well.  Josh offers more alcohol and David tells Josh he loves him.  Josh loves David too!  Josh tells David to relax and he will pour some more drinks.

Ty has read the girls a bedtime story.  Ty thinks things are going well so Fiz reminds him that she cannot just forget what he did.  She cannot make her feelings disappear, it will take time.  Ty repeats he is sorry.  She tells him they have a long road ahead to rebuild the trust.  She is going to have an early night and he can watch some tv.  He says he will sleep on the sofa.

Over at Josh's David is well out of it and unable to life a bottle of beer he slumps back onto the sofa almost completely out of it.  Josh starts to grope David.  {I honestly never thought I would have to write about such matters on an update}.  Josh suggests they should go to bed.  David says "No".  Josh does not take no for an answer and insists.  David just about mumbles no again but Josh lifts him up and to bed.  David falls on the bed face first.  Josh undoes his belt and David appears to pass out.  Josh slams the bedroom door on the camera.

      Roll credits.

Corrie can amuse (Eva being fat shamed), Corrie can entertain (Leanne and her sports courses), Corrie can meander (football), Corrie can reflect (Fiz and Ty) and Corrie can disgust (Josh).  David has been drugged - so cannot give consent.  Was it necessary?  Is it relevant?  Let us all remember David is no saint himself and perhaps there needs to be balance - and clearly it would be equally unsavoury if Josh was raping a female.  What I cannot answer in my own mind is if such a scenario is at all realistic - we hear examples of women being drugged and raped so these days I can only assume that it happens to men as well.  Almost make me glad that I am married and not visiting pubs.  And remember it is not so long ago that Will similarly (but less explicitly) drugged Michelle and locked her in a car boot (without raping her as far as I am aware).

Finally in the words of Mrs Dale I remain very worried about Emily Bishop / Norris Cole or should that be Eileen Derbyshire and Malcolm Hebden?
