Sadly after many years we are announcing that these reports are coming to an end. A team of us have been writing these reports, voluntarily for a number of years in their spare time. Over the years some people have left to pursue other interests. Up until recently we have always managed to find replacements, however despite a number of requests nobody has come forward, and this has meant some people doubling up on their reports, or reproducing them from other sites. All is not lost, however, there is the Coronation Street Blog. If you have not seen it already it is bigger and brighter than than these reports, and has much more information as well, so if you follow Corrie, I would suggest you head over there and join Flamin' Nora and her team!
Also the Corrieweeks updates continue distilling the six episodes into a single email for those who prefer delivery to their inbox - The URL with instructions to sign up to the list is on corrie.net: http://www.corrie.net/updates/maillist.html
Thank you all for your support in the past. Our final reports will cover the episodes aired at the end of the month (Friday 30 March).
Part 1 Written by Chris Fewtrell Directed by David Moor
It's the morning after the night before have two very sheepish looking people in Number 9, apologizing. No regrets but it never happened. Ty has a lot more to lose and well he knows it. Gemma lets herself out but she's spied by Rita who's up early with the newspaper man and looks concerned when she spies her little mate.
Josh comes knocking on the door for David. Sarah answers and after a bit of banter, asks if he's going to talk to David who comes bouncing out, ready for another training session but Josh gets right to the point. Epilepsy is far too dangerous even if it is under control. David reluctantly agrees to see one and they go off running together.
In the salon, Audrey declares she isn't going to see the charity boxing match. She doesn't agree with women boxing and has seen enough scrabbles on the cobbles. A middle aged woman comes in looking for a hair do and in the course of the conversation, it turns out the person that recommended Audrey's, was talking to her is dead and has been for six years. The lady tells the Salonistas that she's a clairvoyant. Hmmm. Bethany and Maria are a tad skeptical. She makes an appointment for 1 (for her hair)
It takes a long time to get back to this storyline, nearly to the end of that episode when we finally get back to the salon and the clairvoyant is at the mercy of Audrey's fingers. She says the woman that "told" her about the salon is there now with a chubby fellow wearing a trilby hat. That takes Audrey's attention pretty quickly. She finally gets the name of the man. Alf or Alfie. Does that mean anything? By'eck Audrey!
Eileen is in the cafe looking very thoughtful but a touch troubled perhaps. Roy offers some advice to better sleeping. Phelan has been sucking up, or at least he is pretending he has by saying he's been driving around all night looking for Billy in hostels and homeless shelters. He insists he's not doing it for brownie points. He likes Billy and Summer has been through too much.
At another table, Gemma is having breakfast with Chesney who's worried about Fiz. He asks Gemma about visiting later to help cheer up Fiz and the girls but Gemma thinks not. Rita comes into the cafe and spots her erstwhile lodger who has just told Chesney she also just copped off with someone. Oddly, for Gemma, she doesn't want to talk about it. Rita decides not to stay.
Jude has his job interview today judging by the shine on his shoes and the snap of his necktie. He's a bit skeptical about the job, saying he is happier doing a job in a wetsuit than a sport suit and tie. This spurs on Mary to memories of watching Jacques Cousteau on television when she was a child. Jude mentions that George was up a lot in the night. Is that Jude's excuse not to go to the interview? He tried but Mary offered to mind the baby so he's got no excuse.
In the back room of the pub, Peter finds Eva having a little lie down. They talk about being out looking for Billy and how Billy got on the slippery slope to start with, Eva placing the blame firmly at Adam's feet for getting Billy hooked on drugs. Eva promises to make Adam pay if anything happens to Billy. (More than becoming a heroin addict?)
Meanwhile, Billy is outside the back window of Eileen's house watching Summer make something to eat for dinner and talk on her phone. He hears her say she'll finish her dinner and then come over to Streetcars when she's done. Billy backs away.
Kevin, Tyrone and Maria are sat in the pub in a booth. Sounds like Tyrone has been complaining about how long Fiz has been away from home but he's overruled by the other two. Maria warns him not to do anything stupid. He's still contemplating getting a councilor for Ruby but takes offense when he thinks Maria is comparing Ruby to her mother.
Fiz is confiding in Roy about the situation. He tells her that Tyrone has got used to being alone and thinks they need to face the crisis together.
Gemma finally gets back to the Kabin and faces some hard questions from Rita about where she was. All she'll admit to is spending the night with Ty and Fiz but even she can't hold up to Rita's onslaught and she caved and admitted to a drunken roll in the hay. Gemma already feels terrible about the people she's let down. Rita softens a little, believing the young woman? No, not on your nellie because later she catches Tyrone just outside his house and gives him what for. She accuses him of taking advantage of Gemma and the happiness of Fiz and the kids are down to him. She shouts at him to grow up and take responsibility. Now he's scared she's going to say something to Fiz!
In the medical centre now and Mary and Jude have brought George in to be looked over. Sounds like he's just fine. Dr. Ali comes out of his office with them and calls David over as his next patient. Jude has done his best to swerve the interview, claiming his only son was more important but Mary thinks he can still get there in time. He admits he's nervous. Mary gives him a rousing pep talk and points him in the direction of the bus stop and then gives him more pep talk at the bus stop. He's nervous but gets on the bus. Why do I get the feeling that Jude is workshy?
Fiz finds Tyrone doing the laundry when she goes to talk to him. He's not sure it will do any good. Didn't she say everything the other day? Fiz compares them as a couple to Jack and Vera. She wants their family back together. He looks pleased but he knows he has put a great crack down the side of their relationship.
In with Dr. Ali, David thinks he's been clear of the epilepsy but Ali corrects him. The disease has been controlled with medication. Big difference. He's advising that with David's type of epilepsy, he'd be crazy to take the risk.
Josh and Kevin natter at the bar. David comes in and tells them he's not allowed to box in the competition. Behind the bar, Sarah's relieved.
Peter is up on a ladder outside the pub when he spies Billy in a yard down the way, looking shifty. Billy goes into Eileen's kitchen and pulls a tea canister out of the cupboard, taking the cash from it that he knew would be there. Peter comes in behind him.
Fiz takes the laundry out of the dryer and a little square piece of foil falls out of the bundle of sheets. A condom wrapper. And most of us watching this are thanking the Soap Gods that they aren't going to drag this out which is what usually happens.
Part 2
Written by Chris Fewtrell Written by David Moor
Peter tries to get through to Billy who's feeling very sorry for himself. Peter offers to help him since he's the one that started him down that road. He insists that Billy needs help to get himself clean. He points out all the people hurting because of Billy's drug addiction. But Billy thinks he's gone too far and they're all better off without him now. Peter says those that love him will forgive him and even brings God and the Bible into it. You can tell Billy wants to believe. and badly.
Tyrone comes into the kebab shop and he's angry. Fiz is back but now Rita knows. Gemma apologizes but points out that Rita saw her come out of Number9 early and figured out what happened all on her own. Tyrone thinks he should confess but that's not a good idea.
Billy tells Peter he thinks of nothing else but the drug when he wakes in the morning. Billy doesn't have his forgiveness for his part in Susan's death but he thinks Billy's suffered enough. He thinks Billy should clean himself up for Summer so she doesn't lose another father. Peter is going to find Eileen while Billy decides he should have a bath. At Eileen's. Why not his old flat, I haven't a clue.
Over at Number9, Sean gets home from London and a visit to Dylan. Fiz asks him about the condom wrapper but he insists it's nothing to do with him.
Peter brings Eileen back but Billy's gone along with the tea caddy money and some of her jewelry.
Angie tells Mary she may have other work in the offing because some of Dev's friends might have work for her. Jude arrives home after his interview.
In the salon, the clairvoyant lady is finished with her new hair do and a few more incidentals about Alf when Gail walks in demanding to know who that woman is what she wanted she's still there.
Across the road, Mr. and Mrs. Phelan talk about the vicar and discuss where he might be. Eileen thinks it was daft of Peter to even try and shes' tired of being the last person to know when things are happening. Summer comes home from school and notices the mess. She's told they had a minor break-in but lost very little. Summer turns to go to her room to get changed and discovers a notebook with just a few lines written and it seems like it's some sort of halfway house or hostel.
Gemma pleads with Rita to keep schtum and she does say she will. Rita admits she will do, just wanted to wind him up a bit. Elsewhere, Josh comes in and sees a downtrodden David who doesn't think there's any point in training now that he's not allowed to box. How about exercise and a good diet make you feel better? David just looks disgusted and goes over to the bar.
At Number 9, Sean and Fiz discuss the situation. When Tyrone gets back, Sean makes himself scarse. Fiz shows Ty the wrapper and tells him she's been trying to figure it out. She knows it has to be him and demands to know who it was. He admits it and apologizes. Gemma.
In the salon, Gail is calling mediums all charlatans. Audrey's troubled by the things she said. Gail pointed out that the woman would have done her research. The real stickler was the eternity ring that was mentioned, one that a brassy blonde picked out. You see, Alf did buy Audrey a ring and Bet Lynch helped pick it out for him. Nobody knew except Alfeh and her. Gail remembers Audrey has told her Audrey wants to make an appointment to see her.
Tyrone insists the one night stand didn't mean anything, he was drunk, he was tired, struggling to cope with the kids and the aftermath of Luke's death. Fiz finally comes home has a go at him. He's not trying to justify it and knows he was wrong, he's just saying how he felt at the time. She tears a strip off him, shouting and screaming and she pulls the empty condom packet and shoves it forward. He dodges backwards suddenly, thinking she was going to hit him.
Josh and David talk about fitness as a lifestyle. David talks about his father, Drinking Mexican beer and shagging sixth form girls. He head to the loo while Josh confirms with Sarah if that was true and she affirms that David's got more baggage than a carousel.
Mary brings Angie and Jude into the pub to celebrate that Jude got the job as a marine research assistant. He's reluctant to say what he will be looking into but makes it sound posher by using lots of Latin terms about a type of clam. Nope. Definitely something this man's not telling us. Did he get the job? Or is it not the type of job he expected it to be? I suppose we'll find out soon enough. He takes a call and tells the caller he can start next week.
Summer is over at Number 1 with Amy and tells her the house (11) didn't look like it was broken into. More like a break-out because the door was damaged on the inside. Summer deduced it had to do with Billy and shows her the notebook with the hostel name inside. She tells Amy she is pretty sure Billy's got himself hooked on drugs and she needs to help him. Summer's a bit scared to go look for Billy in hostels but Amy offers to help since she's an experienced runaway.
Fiz and Tyrone are still bashing this all out. He apologizes again and says his reaction was instinctive. He doesn't think she'd ever hit him. He also doesn't think Ruby is like Kirsty either. Fiz had wanted them to work their way through this and become stronger. He's sure they can, but she's not sure they really need each other and she doesn't know if she can get past this. This time it looks like it will be Tyrone's turn to leave the home. She's going for a walk and doesn't want him there when she gets back. It's very sad to see this couple possibly at the end of their relationship. They were one of the ones you thought would fight tooth and nail for it. Everyone has their limits but it's a soap so I don't think this is over just yet.
