      That squeaky sound says it's time to add corn to the hopper. When the corn level drops to near zero, the auger gets hot, expands, and can hardly rotate. The thermally expanded auger shaft can cease if the hopper runs empty.

      Remove the ash clinker while the burner is hot and stove is running. If the burner gets cold, the burner metal shrinks and tightens against the ash preventing ash removal.

      While the burner is hot and expanded, the ash should pop out as a complete chunk when levered out with the ash removal tool. Perfect practice will use ice tongs to grab the solid ash chunk from the burner with the second hand for easy removal.
