Fellowship Opportunities for Reef Restoration Session

Due to a generous donation by Counterpart International and the Frohring Foundation, we will be able to offer fellowships to offset the cost of registration for students presenting talks or posters at the Special Session on Reef Restoration at the upcoming 39th Annual Benthic Ecology Meeting -- BEM 2010 -- 10-13 March 2010 - to be held on the campus of UNC Wilmington.

To qualify for these fellowships, undergraduate and graduate students must register for this special session prior to January 15, 2010. Students will get reimbursed for registration costs at the meeting.

In addition to these registration fellowships, "best oral presentation" and "best poster presentation" awards will be offered. These awards will include a $200 price.

In addition, and based on the number of students registering, partial travel fellowships may be awarded to a limited number of student attendees.

The only condition for these fellowships is that students accepting these awards will be required to provide a digital copy of their posters or 2-3 summary slides of their talks to the sponsor for dissemination in the Counterpart website (http://www.counterpart.org/ourWork/tourismConservation/coralGardens/index.html)

The purpose of this special session is to provide a forum to
highlight projects and recent advances in reef restoration and coral propagation and provide an opportunity for researchers, resource managers, and practitioners to share valuable information on the role that active reef restoration may play on the long-term survivorship of coral reefs. Presentations on all aspects of the field of coral reef restoration are welcome and student participation is especially encouraged.

For questions on this special session please feel free to
contact Diego Lirman (dlirman@...). For information on the
meeting and abstract submissionm deadlines, please visit the meeting website at: http://www.benthicecologymeeting2010.org/
