Group Description

After the periode of available synthesizers, early sonic adventures, oscillators, intonarumori, ring modulators, theremin and Ondes-Martenot and teleharmoniums, and their successors of the thoroughgoing periode post-modernists like Cage, Stockhausen, Xenakis, Penderecki, Nono and beyond the noisicianism of Ligeti and Varèse.

After the total-serialism, The New York Avant-Garde FLUXUS-movement [literally means "Flow" and "Change"] was founded by George Maciunas in '62 and the music that employed minimal materials, later synoymously become the definition of a different movement called "Minimalism" or "Process" music, music that took their influence out of the FLUXUS Movement.
The definition of Minimal music is a contemporary form of simplification of rhythms, patterns, and harmonies, in variations of experimental infrequent sudden changes.
Minimalism is a style distinguished by severity of means, clarity of form and simplicity of structure and texture.
Using repeated melodic / rythmic themes and movements in various forms on consonant harmonic fragments.

The major FLUXUS/minimalist practitioners were LaMonte Young, Terry Riley, Henry Flynt and Morton Feldman, later accompanied by others like Steve Reich, Michael Nyman, Philip Glass, John Adams, Brain Eno and the estonian composer Arvo Pärt.
The Dutch composers Louis Andriessen and Simeon ten Holt, the belgium composer Wim Mertens, the french instrumentalist Yann Tiersen, the polish musical brilliance of Wojciech Kilar, Zbigniew Preisner and Henryk Górecki.
