Kite flyers everywhere!!!
We have now fixed the dates for the 2003 edition (second) of the Dieppe Kite
International. The event will be held the week of August 13th to the 17th,,
2003. We are looking forward to presenting a field of delegates from around
Approximately 8 to 10 countries will be invited to the event. Come and enjoy
a full week of activities and especially enjoy the great hospitality and the
taste of Acadian culture in Atlantic Canada. Listed so far as delegates
include: Robert Trepannier (Canada)-Jos Valke (Belgium)-Eric Lincot
(France)-Didier Eyraud (France)-Karl Longbottom (England)-Jean et Michele
Lamoureux (Canada)- Asghar Belim (India)-Juergen Ebbinghaus (Germany)-Marc
Duguay (France)-Windjammers (USA)-Micheal Alvarez (Australia)-Keops (France)
The International Kite Event will open on Wednesday August 13th and last for
five full days. All activities throughout the day will be free for the
public so we can expect to draw more important crowds to witness the "magic"
of kiting. There will be ongoing activities during the week geared to the
kiting world. There will be a competition for creativity and you are
encouraged to enter. The theme for the creative competition will be
"children's stories". The focus will be on stories that are popular in your
country. We will have an event where all the creations will be individually
presented to the public.
Also during the full week of kiting activities, there will a program that
will complement the International Kite Event such as entertainment with
buskers, a circus, music etc. Since it is a week of celebration for our
Acadian National Holiday on the 15th of August, there will be a few evenings
of activities for entertainment. There will be a "Night flight" on the 15th
so make sure you bring your most unusual , spectacular and light reflective
kites. Also as an additional event for this International Kite Event, we are
organizing a banquet (informal and "fun" Party) for the delegations,
registered participants and invited guests on the last evening (Saturday) of
the International Kite Event. All will wrap up on Sunday afternoon.
We hope you will mark this International Kite Event down as a must for next
summer. Our new local kite club, "Sky-lines" is just under way and your
presence will continue to stimulate growth of kiting in our area.
For your added information, our city has just purchased a new kite field.
This site of 25 acres will be available for the coming 2005 event. Much
larger then the present one, we will have greater flexibility to fly many
types and numbers of kites including traction, etc.
We will be providing you with more info on the International Kite event as
time goes by so stay tuned...and check with previous delegates who attended
our international event before. We bend over backwards to make sure you have
a great time while you are with us. Check with Robert Trépanier, Jean
Lamoureux, Team Keops, Pan Bo and others.
If you wish to register as a participant (limited numbers), please contact
us. We will send you a form to fill in. The cost will be $30.00 which
includes access to the inner fields and the Saturday banquet.
At ease in the breeze!!
