      Hi all -

The IAU orbit and ephemeris page for Ikeya-Zhang at:

      http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iau/Ephemerides/Comets/2002C1.html

seems to indicate that the comet was detected as early as August 25,
2001 (see below the first set of elements). Does anyone have any info
      on this?

Also, has anyone seen 7P/Pons-Winnecke yet? I have seen it twice in
my 25 cm dob. Though it was quite faint (13th magnitude or a bit
brighter), I am surprised by the scant number of observations and
      images.

      Clear skies,

      Mitch

        Mitch,

        all I know comes from

        http://www.oaa.gr.jp/~muramatu/comet/c2002c1.htm

Here three observations by station 644 (NEAT, Mt. Palomar) of 2001 Aug
25 are indicated in the residuals list.

        Kind regards, Maik
