Celebrate Mardi Gras & ‘Carnaval’ in Adams Morgan
The most international neighborhood in Washington DC celebrates the traditions of Mardi Gras and ‘Carnaval’ on Fat Tuesday, February 12, 2013 with marching bands and a night of music and dance. Join us for festivities that begin at 6:30 pm and last until 10 pm at five different venues in the heart of Adams Morgan.
There will be the Dixieland jazz of LaRue Horns, the Brazilian batucada and samba dancers of ZeZe Brasil Samba School and the Cuban comparsa of Alafia Dancers & Drummers. If weather permits music will also be performed on the street to highlight the new streetscape design which has significantly widened sidewalks and improved public amenities in this colorful neighborhood. Each musical group will perform at the five different venues along 18th St. & Columbia Road.
Adams Morgan Main Street Group in conjunction with the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District (AMPBID) has organized this distinctive attraction along with local commercial partners. This unique and festive musical event is sponsored by: Bossa DC (2463 18th St.), Chief Ikes Mambo Room (1725 Columbia Road), The Grill From Ipanema (1858 Columbia Road), Rumba Café (2443 18th St.) and Jack Rose (2007 18th St.).
Come to Adams Morgan and walk through the neighborhood with the bands or sit in your favorite place and hear music from around the world as we celebrate Mardi Gras & ‘Carnaval’.
The schedule of performances and further details on the event will be announced the week of February 4th and more information can be requested by calling Adams Morgan Main Street at 202-232-1960, friending us on FB at Adams Morgan Main Street or on Twitter @adamsmorganms or the websites of any of the 5 participating establishments.

Get here by car:
All Adams Morgan businesses offer FREE daytime parking validation (no purchase necessary) in the Colonial parking garage (access is from 18th Street, NW on the east side just north of Belmont Road, NW) for up to four hours for only $7.00. Park at the garage, take the ticket from the garage, a business owner will give you a card with four hours validated then return to the garage and pay $7.00. This deal is available seven days a week until 5 PM when regular rates begin to apply. The validation is only good for up to four hours, any fraction thereafter, whether before 5pm or not, will incur the maximum fee.
If you only want to park for up to two hours — there is a validation for that also. For up to two hours, businesses will validate your parking for only $3.00.
Street parking is limited and is $2/hour to park at a metered place. Paid parking is required at meters until 10 pm. It is easier and cheaper to park in the garage.
